After all the hoopla surrounding it, the film version of Dan Brown's uber-hit novel has finally arrived. No matter what you think of the Da Vinci Code phenomena you've got to admit the choice of director and stars seems perfectly fitting on paper. Sadly, our two leads are a tad dull, and the fact that they have zilch chemistry doesn't help a bit.

In case you've been stuck in a crypt for the past few years, here's how the story goes. Langdon is an American symbologist whose services are called upon while he is visiting Paris. The curator of the Louvre has been found murdered and clues to why are hidden in Leonardo Da Vinci's artworks. Langdon is the chief suspect but with the help of Sophie runs from the police (led by Jean Reno) and sets out to solve the mystery, in the process uncovering one of the biggest conspiracies of all time.

After all the hype this is disappointing, mainly because there is barely any emotion in the script. The story has also been gutted of character background, romance and much of the tension and excitement. A Beautiful Mind director Ron Howard is so concerned with explaining the story all we get is lots of dialogue delivered in various historical locations. Oh, and there's a bit of running but considering the book is loaded with action it's almost devoid of it.
