Harry Connick, Jr. has a full slate of activities planned leading up to Christmas this year. Last night marked Connick's and Branford Marsalis' UK performance debut of music from the critically acclaimed Marsalis Music album 'Occasion (Connick On Piano Vol. 2)' (click for review). The duo is set to perform again at the Marsalis Music showcase as part of the London Jazz Festival again tomorrow night at the Shaw Theatre.

Of the album, The Associated Press' Charlie Gans wrote, "Connick demonstrates an almost encyclopedic knowledge of jazz piano styles [and] reveals his talents as a jazz composer... But what's most striking about this CD is that these two friends obviously enjoy playing together, and their infectious enthusiasm is clearly conveyed to the listener." Marsalis Music/Rounder Records released the new DVD 'Harry and Branford: A Duo Occasion' on November 15.

Upon his return stateside, Connick will appear at Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on November 24 and at the Rockefeller Center tree lighting ceremony on November 30, which will air live on NBC. He will also appear on the Today Show (NBC) on November 29 and The Ellen Degeneres Show on December 2. All of these television appearances lead up to NBC's airing of the animated holiday special "The Happy Elf" on December 2 and the specialís subsequent DVD release by Anchor Bay Entertainment December 6. "The Happy Elf" is a new CG-animated family holiday special based featuring Connick's narration and original holiday songs. The one-hour special is produced by IDT Entertainment in association with HC Productions.

Also in December, Connick will also begin rehearsals for his Broadway acting debut in a revival of the Tony-winning musical "The Pajama Game," which begins previews January 19.
